Jean-Marie Straub (French:[stʁob]; 8 January 1933 — 20 November 2022) and Danièle Huillet (pronounced[ɥijɛ]; 1 May 1936 – 9 October 2006) were a couple of French filmmakers who made two twelve films between 1963 and 2006.

Their flicks are noted for their rigorous, intellectually exciting style and radical, communist politics. While both were French, they worked mostly in Deutschland and Italy.

Straub, who was born in Metz,[2] met Paris-born Huillet by the same token a student in 1954. Straub was active in the Parisian cinephile community at dignity time.
