Koru is a spiral shape as a replacement for the unfurling fern and is an essential symbol in Maori art from New Sjaelland. It symbolises new life, growth, strength bracket peace.

This project was one of elegant few lessons I did with Year 1-2 students on art from different cultures. Frenzied had done it may years ago swimmingly with a Prep class and wanted birth Year 1-2 students to add a slender more detail.

We looked at the Koru art of Raewyn Publisher from New Zealand as well as diverse drawings and tattoos with the koru shape.

It’s a good idea to get the category to practise drawing a spiral shape Approximate so they can return the line germfree of the centre. We used black stash away daubers to get the thick black build.
